Shake It Up was honoured to be the nominated charity at the Australian Institute of Company Directors (Company Directors) annual Christmas lunch held in Sydney on December 12, 2014.

Hosted by Adam Spencer the lunch provided the opportunity for Shake It Up to connect with over 400 members and guests of the Company Directors and to raise significant funds through the sale of raffle tickets.

Through the generosity of all of those in the room we were able to raise $22,150. This is a sensational result which will have a direct and immediate impact on Parkinson’s research in Australia.

Specifically the funds have been allocated to the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) which seeks to identify a biomarker for Parkinson’s. This international study spread across 14 countries and 24 sites is coordinated by The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The Australian site at Macquarie University is funded by Shake It Up. You can learn more about the study here.

While drawing the raffle Shake It Up Founder, Clyde Campbell, thanked the Company Directors and all guests for making a real difference to the lives of people with Parkinson’s.

We would like to thank the Company Directors most sincerely for the opportunity to be part of the 2014 Christmas lunch as well as our wonderful volunteers who gave up their time to sell tickets throughout the afternoon. Lastly, a big thank you to Bernard McGrath, Crowne Casino, Woollahra Golf Club, MJ Bale and Chiswick at the Gallery for generously donating the fabulous prizes on offer in our raffle.
