‘Back to the Future’ Outdoor Movie Night for Parkinson’s
Monday, 22nd April 2013

The Yarra River provided the perfect backdrop for an outdoor movie screening.   The event raised over $2500 for the Shake It Up Australia Foundation with all ticket sales going directly into research targeted at finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

Event organisers Nigel & Juliane King transformed the home on the banks of the Yarra River into an outdoor movie theatre screening the popular Michael J. Fox movie “Back to the Future”.   With 100 adults plus children attending the night was an astounding success which they now hope to make an annual event.

The Kings motivation for the event came after their friend Quentin Brown (who was featured in our World Parkinson’s Day video) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when he was just 40.   Quentin & his wife Victoria and children attended the event and were very touched by the effort that everyone put into the night to make it such a success.

The funds raised were generated through the entry ticket, sale of sausages, popcorn and drinks together with an auction of donated prizes.

The Shake It Up Australia Foundation would like to thank everyone for their support of this fantastic event.  With 100% of funds being directed into research these funds will make a real impact in finding a cure and better treatments for Parkinson’s.

To find out how you can get involved become more involved with the Foundation by participating in an athletic event or by running your own event we would love to hear from you.
