Parkinson’s in the Spotlight as Usain Bolt Scores Two Goals for the Central Coast Mariners

On Friday night, The Central Coast Mariners supported Shake It Up at their pre-trial match against MaCarthur South West. Both teams completed for the ‘Shake It Up Cup’ an initiative that will raise awareness for the Shake It Up Australia Foundation

This game was the next journey in Usain Bolt’s career and he was happy to support such a great cause and help raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease.

“It’s our duty to give back to charities. As athletes, we benefit a lot from people’s support, as football players we have a voice so we can speak louder than most people. If we can lend our voices to charities such as Shake It Up and make people aware of Parkinson’s disease then that’s something I am privileged to be a part of,” Bolt said.

Raising Awareness of Parkinson's

Parkinson’s was certainly in the spotlight on Friday night. With the players proudly wearing the Shake It Up logo on their jerseys, signage throughout the game, plus a live broadcast on FOX Sports and media outlets around the world ensured millions of people were made aware of Parkinson’s, a disease that affects 80,000 Australians and 10 Million worldwide.
