Caroline Shakes It Up in the Sunshine Coast Half Marathon
Friday, 1st September 2017

Our hero this week is Caroline who has multiple family members living with Parkinson’s.   Whilst she loves to push herself physically, taking part in the Sunshine Coast Half Marathon was a great excuse to make a difference and raise awareness and funds for a cure.

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s is a part of my family, multiple loved ones are living with the disease. I see the daily struggle, by only for them, but for other family members and it’s up to me, to us, to do anything and everything we can to raise awareness and funds to help find that cure.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

Shake it up Australia uses 100% of donations to fund research, and that’s awesome. We need as much of that money raised to get to where it really matters. I feel like Shake it up has a voice and if I can help make it louder, even better.

Tell us what you are doing to Shake Things Up?

Pushing myself physically,  the Sunshine Coast half marathon was a great excuse to get out for a run and raise some money at the same time!

Greatest Reward?

Finishing the run and knowing that I’ve helped fundraise for a wonderful foundation. 2 massive positives for me.

Best advice for people looking to Shake It Up?

Just get out there and give it a red hot crack. It’s worth it.

You can make a difference too.   Whether it is participating in an athlete event, hosting your own event. becoming a Mover and Shaker by making a regular monthly donation. or simply making a one off donation.
