The charity fun run season is back on! Are you excited to get running or walking? Now is the time to start training as events like Blackmores Sydney Running Festival and City2Surf are going ahead in September and October. Our hero this week is Katrina who is running the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival inspired to get the message out there about Parkinson’s.

What drives your commitment to a cure for Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s is a disease close to me with two members of my family being diagnosed. I have seen how much it has/had impacted their lives and only hope that a cure can help both them and others live life to the fullest.

What are you doing to ‘Shake things up’?

By running in the Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival and fundraising, I hope to raise awareness and understanding of Parkinson’s and how this disease affects individuals and their families.

How will you feel when you cross the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival finish line?

No doubt exhausted, but also proud of myself for completing the challenge.

What advice do you have about fundraising for others?

Use your socials! You can get a wide spread of people, but it’s also important to tell your story and your reason for doing it. This way people can better relate and see your passion for the cause.

We need your help to kick start our post-Covid fundraising. Get involved with a fun run in your area and make a difference today. Or, if you’d prefer to set your own challenge, get started with the Shake It Up Virtual Challenge.
