We love it when our supporters get creative and support the foundation in a variety of different ways. For the past 3 years, Kathleen has hosted an event in our April Pause 4 Parkinson’s campaign. These events have ranged from a 10-day cycling challenge, a cocktail party to this year’s Bogan Bingo night. Her inspiration to make a difference comes from her Dad (The Parky Park Runner) who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 52.
Each year Kathleen aims to come up with a different theme. Knowing how much her friends love a good dress up she came up with the idea of a Bogan Bingo night. After approaching the Labrador Tigers with her idea they kindly donated the room for her use and local businesses came on board to provide prizes for the raffle. The event was a huge success with over $2100 raised throughout the night.
Local MP Sam O’Connor even volunteered his time and worked behind the bar.
In the 3 years that Kathleen has been hosting these events, she has raised over $6000.00 and her friends and family look forward to it each year.
On behalf of Kathleen and the foundation, a big thank you to all everyone that helped and donated. We can’t wait to see what Kathleen has in store for next year!
We recently featured Kathleen’s Dad on our website who is also a long time supporter of the foundation. To stay active and help make a difference Stephen is turning old surfboards into tables and donating the proceeds to research.
