Our hero Srithi runs for her Grandfather

Inspired by her grandfather, our hero this week is Srithi who ran the City2Surf earlier this month raising much needed funds and awareness. For family members, watching a loved one suffer with Parkinson’s can be impactful. We are so proud of Srithi who decided to do something in her grandfather’s honour.

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

My strong grandfather suffered from Parkinson’s disease. My grandfather believed in the power of peace. I don’t wish anybody else to suffer from this debilitating disease.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

The guarantee that 100% of every dollar invested directs into Australian medical research targeted at discovering the cause, improving treatments and ultimately curing Parkinson’s disease.

Tell us what you are doing/did to Shake Things Up?

I raised awareness, funds…and ran 14km in the City2Surf.

The beautiful kindness of others.

Best advice for people looking to Shake It Up?

Never underestimate the power of raising awareness for Parkinson’s disease. Although it is the second most common neurodegenerative disease in Australia, it can be misunderstood. Spread your knowledge, know that you’re helping 80,000 other Australians, let’s shake it up together.
