Matt Cannon Shakes It Up for Parkinson’s
Friday, 2nd May 2014

This week’s Shake It Up hero is Matt Cannon. Whether it is committing as a regular giver or getting involved in the Blackmores Running Festival and fundraising for Shake It Up, Matt is passionate about helping Shake It Up change the outcomes for those living with PD. Read about what motivates him to become involved here:

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

A personal interest – I have friends and friends of friends that have PD.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

In two words “Clyde Campbell”. Clyde is a mate of mine so I know how committed he is towards finding a cure for PD. His drive to link Shake it Up (SIU) with the Fox Foundation is evidence of this.

Tell us what you are doing to Shake Things Up?

Last year I organised a monthly direct debit contribution to SIU. That way I know I’m continually contributing. Along with fundraising for and participating in the annual Sydney Running Festival, I’m also trying to come up with a fundraising event that can raise some decent funds but also give exposure of SIU to a broader audience. Maybe something that involves the “Guinness Book of Records”.

Greatest Reward?

Having that feel good buzz when you participate in an SIU event and a stranger comes up and thanks you or congratulates you for what you’re doing.

Best advice for people looking to Shake It Up?

Have a go – grab some friends or make some new ones and join an event.
