Shake It Up Hero – Danielle

C4AC Hexie Collab - Final photoThis week’s Shake It Up Hero is Danielle who is collaborating with her business network to raise funds for Parkinson’s research.

1. What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

My father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2000. He was only 50 years old, and with the amazing continued support of my mother they have continued to have a full and fun life together. As the disease and symptoms progress over the years, the need for research to find a cure for Parkinson’s is front and centre in our thoughts.

2. Why Shake It Up Australia?

Shake It Up Foundation’s commitment to research is ongoing, and cutting edge, and continues to strive to make a difference by partnering with the Michael J. Fox Foundation. It is inspiring that Shake It Up continues to do as much as they can, whilst funding their own research. Choosing Shake It Up as our fundraising charity was my first choice, both for personal reasons, but also due to the professionalism of the charity and the ground-breaking research they provide.

3. Tell us what you are doing to Shake Things Up?

My amazing handmade business friends have teamed up for Australia’s largest online charity auction – Collaborate for a Cause, that takes place from the 29th-31st of July. Our team has partnered together to create handmade pieces that are donated by us (Paisley Avenue, Precious Little Poppets, Melisa Jane, Harley B Handmade and Tamri Parr Photography) that will be auctioned, and all proceeds will go to Shake It Up. We are very excited about this auction event which has been running annually for five years. We hope our collaboration will raise as much money as possible to help fund Parkinson’s research.

4. Greatest Reward?

We are incredibly proud to raise funds for Shake It Up, and hopefully make a small difference for this important cause!

5. Best advice for people looking to Shake It Up?

Every little bit helps! Whether you support the Foundation, support Parkinson’s families, or talk and help raise awareness in the community around you, it is all of benefit and will have a positive effect for the awareness of the need for research to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
