In this edition: International Parkinson’s news, myths about caregiving and an inspiring personal story
Over the last month we have been presented with the opportunity to fund some new and exciting Australian Parkinson’s research projects through our Partners at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. We look forward to sharing the details of these projects over the coming weeks.
For the Team at Shake It Up, these project funding opportunities serve as vivid reminder of the progress we are making on the road to better treatments and ultimately a cure for Parkinson’s. They also cause us to assess our ability to fund new projects and the funds we and our supporters are likely to raise over the next 12 months.
As part of that process we have been speaking with many of our supporters who host annual events around the country to raise funds for Parkinson’s research and we are delighted to report that the vast majority of these events are being held again throughout 2016/17. They include movie nights, golf days, trivia nights, race days, cocktail parties, music events and much more.
As a small team we rely heavily on our supporters right across the country who host these events and raise much needed awareness and funds for research. To all of our existing event hosts we say a heartfelt thanks!
If you have been thinking about hosting an event of your own but are not sure where to start, please contact us and our Event Manager, Melanie will help you along your way. Alternatively, check our our Host Your Own Event page for some additional inspiration.
We hope you enjoy this latest issue of the Shake It Update.
