Pilates 4 Parkinson’s – a community moved by purpose

Saturday, 14th June 2025

On a crisp Saturday morning in Victoria’s picturesque Yarra Valley, over 120 people rolled out their mats at Punt Road Wines for the first-ever Pilates 4 Parkinson’s — a sold-out fundraiser hosted by Vicky and Penny, whose families have both been touched by Parkinson’s disease.

Set beneath the vines, the open-air class turned movement into meaning — blending strength, community, and shared purpose to raise $6,579 for Parkinson’s research through Shake It Up Australia Foundation.

“The event location of Punt Road Winery was absolutely beautiful, over 120 people came to support Parkinson’s disease and participated in a fun inclusive Pilates class run by Vicky. The class was followed by some bubbles and yummy snacks. The whole day was a fantastic way to raise awareness.”

From bubbles and brunch to connection and cause, it was a morning full of energy, emotion — and unexpected power.

“I arrived as the last of the 120 participants were setting up their mats… The anticipation was palpable as each of us knew we were there to raise some money, most of us probably touched by Parkinson’s in some way… I thought it would be in for an easy workout but I quickly realised this would be no walk in the park!”

“In my eyes, Pilates for Parkinson’s was a huge success. Vicky and Penny created a space that was inviting, well organised in every way imaginable from start to finish and I believe everyone walked away feeling a bit sore but proud to be a part of an event that was raising money for such an important cause… I’m so proud of everyone’s efforts and looking forward to the next one!”

The event was as much about community as it was about fundraising.

“A great cause close to the hearts of many, with a special mention to the 2 amazing ladies that organised it. The attendance was phenomenal, the location breathtakingly beautiful and the class itself still amazing.”

“A fun event for a great cause… The event was well planned and executed with a great crowd of people of all ages. A festival-like atmosphere with a shared sense of purpose, community connections and of course a great Pilates workout.”

Attendees left with full hearts, tired legs — and a collective desire to do it all again.

“Can’t wait for the next one.”

“I’ll definitely be back next year!”

To Vicky and Penny — your idea, grounded in personal loss and powered by love, brought together over 100 people who now  know and care more about Parkinson’s. That is legacy in motion.

Thank you for showing what compassion, community, and a little Pilates can do.
