Wednesday, 21st September 2011

Mosman local and Parkinson’s disease sufferer Clyde raised $32,340 for the Shake It Up Foundation/Team Fox Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve awareness and increase funding for research towards finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease in Australia.

Cricketing legend and Suncorp Bank Community Ambassador Adam Gilchrist and Suncorp Bank’s Regional General Manager for the NSW Metropolitan Region, Harry Hills presented Clyde with his award at the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival on Sunday 18 September.

Suncorp Bank donated $5,000 to Clyde’s Shake It Up Australia Foundation, with an additional award of $1,000 to be deposited into a Suncorp Bank Everyday Basics Account for Clyde in recognition of his amazing fundraising efforts.

Harry said Clyde was an inspiration to all who met him.

“When Clyde was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease two years ago at the age of 44, he decided to take action and launch the Shake It Up Australia Foundation to raise much-needed research funds. Clyde’s fundraising efforts are to be applauded, and Suncorp Bank is proud to be able to contribute to this worthwhile cause,” Harry said.

Clyde said the additional donation from Suncorp Bank was appreciated and would aid the charity.

“I would like to thank Suncorp Bank for their generous $5,000 donation to the Shake It Up Australia Foundation, which adds to the $70,000 raised by the 70 fantastic members who participated in the 2011 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival,” Clyde said.

“The money raised will assist the Shake It Up Australia Foundation with our purpose to fund research that advances treatments for Parkinson’s disease, with our ultimate aim of finding a cure.”

Clyde Campbell launched the Shake it Up Australia Foundation this year and has partnered with the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
