Summary of the project:  

The AusPD Plus study proposes to recruit 500 new participants with Parkinson’s Plus Syndromes (Dementia with Lewy bodies, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, Corticobasal Syndrome, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus). 

The project will perform detailed in-person clinical phenotyping with validated questionnaires and tools, collect additional samples for future biomarker/genetic studies, and prioritise underrepresented populations drawn from Australia’s geographically distinct and multicultural population, including Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders and Pacific Island populations. The study will establish a large genetic Parkinson’s plus dataset in Australia that will provide geographically and ethnically distinct insights and opportunities.
