Did you know that you can support Parkinson’s research through your workplace? No matter what size company or industry you work in, or whether you’re an employee or employer, there are all kinds of ways you can make a difference in support of Shake It Up at work.
Workplace Giving
Workplace giving is a tax-effective way for employees to make regular donations to Parkinson’s research from their pre-tax pay. For employees, this is a simple way to donate regularly. For employers – this is a way to bring your organisation’s values to life, helping your staff to find a greater sense of purpose at work, and foster a positive team culture.

Fundraise at Work
Workplace fundraising is a great way to support a colleague with Parkinson’s or spread the word about your personal passion, while contributing to positive team culture. Many employees choose to fundraise in the workplace community by hosting a morning/afternoon tea, sausage sizzle, team challenge, or #Pancakes4Parkinsons event.

Matched Donations
Did you know that many companies offer to match your donation as an employee? If you’re either planning a donation or a fundraising event, you can double the impact of your donation to Shake It Up Australia by contacting your employer’s HR or Finance department to see if they offer a matched giving program.

Workplace Fundraising Hero: Mount Gravatt Mazda
When Olivia decided to fundraise for Shake It Up by taking part in the Gold Coast Marathon in support of her father, her employer and colleagues at Mount Gravatt Mazda rallied around her. They not only supported her fundraising efforts but actively raised funds and awareness in the months leading up to the marathon, raising over $3,700 in total.
Here’s what they did:
👚Held a ‘free dress day’ on World Parkinson’s Day, with staff members contributing donations all day
💰Placed donation tins on display until the marathon in July, as well as generating QR codes to be placed at every sales person’s desk in the showroom
🤝Through their CTP partnership with Suncorp, pledged to donate $25 from all new vehicle sales in April, Parkinson’s Awareness Month
Katelyn Wilkie, Marketing Manager, says, “We continually try to find ways to raise awareness and funds for charities that make an impact within our local community. With April being Parkinson’s Awareness Month we found it fitting to support Shake It Up through our Mount Gravatt Mazda Wellness Program. With our very own MGM community hero Olivia Chapman lacing up her running shoes to embark on the Gold Coast Half Marathon, it was inspiring to see her achieve her goals through sheer determination and bit of sweat and tears.”
