Jackie joins the Larapinta Trek in support of her Mum
Friday, 18th January 2019

Jackie Parton is taking part in our Larapinta Trek for Treatment later this year, inspired by her mother’s battle with Parkinson’s. If you’re interested in taking part in our trek, there are still places available but contact us quickly as this trek will sell out!

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

My commitment to raising research support dollars comes from watching my beautiful mum experience the “joys” of Parkinson’s over the past 7 years.

I figure if mum can cope with challenges on a daily basis, I can surely cope with the challenges of a hike and camp for 7 days!!!

Why Shake It Up Australia

I chose to join the Shake It Up challenge because a girlfriend highlighted the organisation and the opportunities that Shake it Up provide to research and support for Parkinson’s .

Tell us what you are doing to Shake Things Up?

I am currently raising funds to partake in the Larapinta trek in August. I will, with the support of my Golf Club, be hosting a fundraising golf day during the month of April, to coincide with national Parkinson’s day. Several lady members at my club also suffer from Parkinson’s and the club is very keen to get behind the day and raise awareness of the Trek I will be doing, and the efforts of Shake it Up.

Greatest Reward

My greatest reward will be meeting mum at the Alice Springs airport after the walk and sharing 3 weeks adventuring the Top End with her. She is very disappointed that she is not fit enough to join me on the walk, however, we will certainly have a great adventure!!!!!
