This year, Shake It Up welcomed Gilligan’s Hotel and Resort as our major sponsor for 2023 and our Pause 4 Parkinson’s campaign.

Gilligan’s is an award-winning adventure destination which is centrally located in the heart of Cairns, Tropical North Queensland.

When a long-time member of their team was diagnosed with Parkinson’s two years ago, the organisation knew they wanted to do something to help.

“This is a battle that we hold close to our hearts, and we are in it for the long haul as a group. We have seen firsthand the impact Parkinson’s can have on a loved one, and we want to support not only our very own but also all those struggling with this disease by contributing to the fight to hopefully one day find a cure”, said Gus Fernandez, Venue Entertainment and Events Manager.

“We value & admire the Shake It Up Foundation’s pursuit and long-term commitment to this cause, which we stand by 100% and will continue to support for the long term.”

By raising funds for Shake It Up and making monthly donations, Gilligan’s is supporting the foundation to fund research into better treatment options for sufferers, and one day, a cure for Parkinson’s.

Each month, Gilligan’s will donate a percentage of their entertainment venue’s door takings, including special events, to Shake It Up Australia.

“People can get involved by simply visiting the hotel, whether it be for a holiday or a night out with friends, knowing that they are making a difference for a worthy cause”, said Gus.
