Rani walks for Parkinson’s
Friday, 16th August 2019

Our hero this week is Rani Doss who put on her own 4km walk around the Maribyrnong river and invited the local community to join her. Rani’s dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 5 years ago and after seeing how proud he was on the day her advice to everyone is  “Do it, get amongst it, nothing is too hard and its totally worth it”!

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 5 years ago and now lives in a nursing home with advanced Parkinsons and early-onset dementia.

He is the strongest most graceful person I know, and if the money we raised can help the quality of another family’s life that is enough for me.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

Because shake-up was a stand out for me being that 100% of the proceeds raised go to Parkinson’s research and partnering with MJ fox it was naturally a stand out for me.

We did a 4km walk around the Maribyrnong river on Sunday, August 11th – local and super chill not too hard for anyone. I also got T-shirts for everyone to wear on the day

Greatest Reward?

How proud Dad was, and also being so blown away by the number of people that came. It’s crazy how creating an event like this and being vulnerable by telling my story brought so many people together!
