Thursday, 25th September 2014

This week our Shake It Up Hero is Matt Boes.  Along with his fellow employees at Caltex Australia, Matt allocated $15,000 to Shake It Up as a part of the groups charitable giving fund. Read what inspired him to promote Shake It Up within his workplace and what drives his commitment to finding a cure!

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

Since my father (Bob Boes) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago it has been a goal of mine to help out in some way that will aid him in his fight against this disease.

Like many would know it has been a tough journey watching a loved one’s health and confidence deteriorate as a result of PD. The hope in which he gained upon learning about Shake it up and all of the good the work they are doing towards finding a cure is really inspiring.

I did not know much about PD before my father was diagnosed so I Googled it and stumbled across Shake it up.

An opportunity with my workgroup came up to make a donation which would make a difference and I jumped at it. I am proud to think that my donation has gone to good use as 100% of the donation goes straight to research.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

Upon meeting the organisers of the foundation including Clyde it was an easy choice, their objective was clear, to find the cure for Parkinson’s disease.

The fact that 100% of the donation goes straight to the research is amazing!

Greatest Reward?

Knowing that I have contributed to finding the cure for Parkinson’s disease!
