Active Tree Services Support Pause 4 Parkinson’s
Wednesday, 13th February 2019

With the Shake it Up Foundation’s annual Pause 4 Parkinson’s campaign drawing near, Australia’s largest tree management company, Active Tree Services, has proudly come on board as a Silver sponsor.

Announcing the company’s commitment this week, Active CEO John Tolmie said the company was delighted to get behind the cause and help raise funds for research into Parkinson’s disease.

“Each year our company gives back to the community, channelling 10% of our profits into charitable causes. With 38 Australians diagnosed with Parkinson’s every day, this is a disease that likely directly or indirectly affects many in our 700-strong team,” Mr Tolmie explained.

“It seemed only natural that our business, with its outdoor focus, active lifestyle and dependency on physical accuracy, would recognise and work towards finding a cure for a disease which gradually robs people of these very things.”

About Active

From a single man operation in the 1970s, Active Tree Services has bloomed to become Australia’s largest tree management company.

The company boasts a 700-strong employee base that stretches across the country undertaking vegetation clearing around powerlines, emergency response and handling tree maintenance contracts on behalf of local councils.

From Sydney to Darwin and beyond, each day finds Active workers in the great outdoors operating at height, around machinery, near powerlines while maintaining vegetation for local government and ensuring the power supply for major electricity networks.

It’s a task that requires accuracy, skill and an unwavering commitment to safety, which Active proudly boasts.

For over 40 years the company has prided itself on bringing the latest technology and innovations to Australia to make tree clearing as safe as possible for their staff and the industry as a whole.

It has also devised a range of cutting edge, in-house initiatives and training programs designed to foster an engaged safety focus in an industry known for its risk.

Not only has Active built its reputation on safety, it also maintains strong relationships with its impressive customer base that includes local councils and energy utility companies along with State and Federal Governments.

In addition to innovation and customer service, Active has a major commitment to the community which has furnished it with success during four decades of operation.

The company is a platinum sponsor of the industry body Arboriculture Australia. Active is also part of a team committed to restoring and maintaining living tree monuments to fallen soldiers known as the Avenues of Honour. Meanwhile, last year Active executive chairman and founder Mark Willcocks announced 10% of company profits would go to charitable causes each year.

Active now adds the Shake it Up Australia Foundation and the Pause 4 Parkinson’s campaign to the list of initiatives it proudly supports.
