Lucy and Ross Ride for Parkinson’s
Friday, 5th December 2014

Our Shake It Up heroes this week are Lucy & Ross. Motivated to do something for Parkinson’s research to honour Lucy’s Dad they embarked on a 135km cycle around the bay for Shake It Up.

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

Finding a cure helps everyone across the World! My dad (Alan) has had Parkinson’s for 10 years and so we have seen first hand the many symptoms progress in that time and cause many changes in his life.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

When looking for a Parkinson’s Charity to raise money for we knew we wanted to support research, as our families are in the UK we wanted to support something that would help everybody no matter where they live. I liked how Shake It Up is associated with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the commitment of Clyde Campbell. It’s great to know that 100% of the money goes back to the cause!!

Tell us what you are doing to Shake Things Up?

We decided to challenge ourselves and push us well and truly out of our comfort zone. Having not done anything like it before we decided to ride 135km around the bay!!

Greatest Reward?

Crossing the finish line was so rewarding to know that we had completed our challenge for all those people who had sponsored us. We are so happy to have raised what we have and to make my dad proud!

Best advice for people looking to Shake It Up?

The ethos of Shake it up is what we love and anybody that can do anything to support the good research they are doing will get a lot of satisfaction from helping such a good cause.

Find out how you can get involved and help us Shake It Up for a cure!
