Ben Runs a Half Marathon for Parkinson’s

As winter approaches, training has begun for fun run season. Half marathons, marathons and running festivals, become popular in Spring so in preparation, we spoke to Ben who ran in the Weston Creek Half Marathon earlier this year about what motivated him to raise funds through a half marathon.

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

My reasons and commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s are due to my wife’s father suffering from the disease.

Shake It Up Australia presented as a well-run organisation that is determined to help those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.

Tell us what you did to Shake Things Up?

I trained for roughly 6 months to run a half-marathon and raise money for Parkinson’s Disease research through Shake It Up Australia.

Greatest Reward

Raising as much money as I did for Parkinson’s Disease research and completing my first half-marathon.

Best advice for others wanting to Shake It Up?

Use the gifts you’ve been given. Life can be unfair to good people and you never know when you are going to lose your fully functioning body or health…so make the most of it and live life to the fullest.
