Friday, 23rd November 2018

If you’re looking for a challenge, the so called ‘World’s toughest half Marathon’, Point to Pinnacle in Hobart would certainly fit the bill! Team Bailey recently completed the 21.1-kilometre challenge which rises 1,270 meters in height. up Mount Wellington. The whole team made it to the pinnacle in under 3 hrs and 30 mins with plenty of fun and laughter along the way!

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

In 2016 at age 40, my husband Scott was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s disease. Having 2 young children, who need their Dad to remain fit and active, we need to find a cure.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

We decided to choose Shake it Up Australia to raise money for because they are proactive in finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease and 100% of all donations go directly to research! So that means every dollar our friends and family donate gets us one step closer to finding a cure!
Tell us what you are doing/did to Shake Things Up?

We have set up Team Bailey v’s Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease and we have numerous fundraisers on the horizon. This year was the second year Team Bailey tackled the distance of 21.1km and 1270 meters in height up Mount Wellington. This year Scott, who has Parkinson’s disease, lead the team himself up the Mountain.  Not only did we raise much need funds for finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease but also for raising awareness. As we were going up the mountain people could read our super cool singlets from Shake It Up Australia and see our reason behind the challenge.

Greatest Reward

The greatest reward was having the Team all come together on the day and every single one of them making it to the Pinnacle in the allocated time. So much fun and laughter along the way and all doing it for a great cause! None of us are elite athletes but we were all determined to show Scott we are here for him. We plan on making it an annual event and would love to see the team grow again next year.
