Mates come together to help find a cure for Parkinson’s
Sunday, 1st April 2018

After previously competing in 10 ocean water swims the team vowed never to do it again.  That all changed the day their mate and team member Chris Winter was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.  In the true spirit of friendship the team rallied together for “One Last Time” and in March will be taking on the Port to Pub swim from Leighton Beach to Rottnest Island – a direct crossing of 19.7km.

About One Last Time

From 1999 to 2011, a very strong, good looking set of close mates completed the Rottnest Channel Swin on 10 separate occasions. After the 2011 swim, the team decided that 10 times was enough and we vowed never to do the swim again….. As the years rolled on, one of our team members Chris Winter was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. One night when we were all together (and with the possibility of a few ales under our skin) we thought it would be a fitting tribute to our good mate Chris to get the team back together for ONE LAST TIME and enter the 2018 Port to Pub swim!

The team has been assembled and consists of the original 4 swimmers plus some new additions to the team. Our original support crew have also thrown themselves behind us with boat driving, paddlers, other support crew all there to encourage us on the day.

More importantly, we want to do this swim for 2 reasons;

• Raise awareness of Parkinson’s Disease and

• Raise money for research into Parkinson’s Disease.

The team shared what drives them to make a difference
