Friday, 24th August 2018

Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is just around the corner. We spoke to one of our top fundraisers, Lucas about what a cure for Parkinson’s means to him and how fundraising through BSRF can bring people together. Lucas has had to increase his fundraising target 3 times due to the generosity of this friends and family.

What Drives Your Commitment to find a cure for Parkinson’s?

I would like to see a world one day without Parkinson’s disease. My uncle and father have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, so I am running for both them and the family because I’ve seen how it challenges everyone. There’s nothing I could do to change the condition however I could raise much needed funds for research.

Why Shake It Up Australia?

You would be surprised at just how many people are suffering from Parkinson’s in Australia and those who are undiagnosed. They could be a neighbour, family member, friends. So why not shake it up? Let’s find a cure!

Greatest Reward

I have seen how generous humans can be when we work together. I initially had a goal of $700 and within 24 hours we smashed it. Everyone was so generous

That was an amazing feeling.
