Emmanuelle and Joshua fundraise for Shake It Up at their birthday party
Wednesday, 29th June 2022

Happy Birthday to Shake It Up supporters Emmanuelle and Joshua who chose to fundraise for Parkinson’s research at their birthday party. The pair reached out to friends and family, asking for donations instead of presents for this special occasion. Thanks to their generosity, together they’ve raised $11,395 for Parkinson’s research towards a cure – thank you Emmanuelle and Joshua! We spoke to these special kids about their inspiration for fundraising.

What inspires your commitment to a cure for Parkinson’s?

Unfortunately, we have had members of our family and friends who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and we would love nothing more than to find a cure so people don’t have to suffer in the future.

Tell us about your fundraising and birthday party.

We had a fun party and thought it would be a good idea instead of presents to raise money for a charity. We wanted to find a charity that helped research a cure for Parkinson’s disease – 100% of donations made to Shake It Up goes towards research so this is the charity we wanted to support.

What advice do you have for others looking to make a difference?

It is always important to give back to the community.  Shake It Up is a great charity but each person should find a charity that they are passionate about and want to support.

Is your birthday coming up? You can celebrate and support Parkinson’s research by hosting a birthday fundraiser. Birthday fundraising is a great way to make your birthday extra special and spread awareness about Parkinson’s.
