Mimi raises $4,389 for Shake It Up
Thursday, 17th June 2021

Our hero this week is Mimi, who bravely fundraised for Shake It Up while preparing for DBS surgery. Mimi collected funds in the lead up to shaving her head for the treatment.

With the help of her generous friends and family, Mimi raised $4,389 for Parkinson’s research. A big thank you to Mimi and her supporters for their efforts.

We spoke with Mimi to find out more about her story.

What drives your commitment to a cure for Parkinson’s?

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in July 2020 and in September 2020 my brother passed away from Parkinson’s. This has impacted on our family significantly.

Why did you decide to fundraise for Shake It Up?

I had heard Clyde speak on a Parkinson Victoria webinar and also on the news and was very impressed by what he and the foundation is doing. I am also a huge fan of Michael J Fox and the commitment he has made to finding a cure.

What was the greatest reward?

To raise a substantial amount of money through the very kind and generous donations of friends and family!

What advice do you have for others looking to fundraise?

Don’t be afraid to tell your story as there are so many kind and generous people who want to help! Any funds that can be raised go to supporting valuable research which hopefully will one day lead to a cure for Parkinson’s.

You can make a difference by fundraising.
