Our Top Fundraisers for 2021 – Part 2

2021 was another challenging year for all of us, with many unable to fundraise due to changing local restrictions and more time at home. Despite that, Shake It Up made it through 2021 with the support of our fundraisers, generous donors and corporate sponsors who are committed to finding treatments that slow, stop and prevent progression, ultimately leading to a cure for Parkinson’s.

Shake It Up would like to thank our supporters who have been so integral to our success in 2021. Let’s have a look back on some of our  amazing fundraising heroes for 2021.

Annie raises $8,704 for Parkinson’s Research

In March, Annie and her friends and family walked 20km for Parkinson’s research, inspired by her father who has Parkinson’s. They had a great time on the day, despite the rain and raised a huge $8,704 for Shake It Up.

Annie can’t wait to do another fundraiser to continuously raise awareness surrounding Parkinson’s Disease.

Tribute Boxing completes collective 30,000km for Parkinson’s

A huge team of over 140 people from Tribute Boxing, led by Alex and Leo, worked together to walk, run, cycle and swim over 30,000km for Parkinson’s in October. The team were inspired to challenge themselves during lockdown to stay active and motivated while fundraising for a cause close to their heart. Together they raised $12,693 and even received sponsorship from Tribute Boxing, Smoults Larder and Andrew Huffer Associates who did dollar matching days.

Point to Pinnacle Heroes

We had our biggest contingent of supporters in the Point to Pinnacle ever this year, thanks to our regular supporters and some new faces. Olivia Bailey and her family have been supporting Shake It Up through the Point to Pinnacle since 2017, inspired by Olivia’s husband who was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s.

A new team also joined Point to Pinnacle this year to support Shake It Up. Sonya Enkelmann and her supporters rallied together the Young Onset Parkinson’s Team to take on the challenge with a heartfelt message. Together, all involved in the Point to Pinnacle this year have made a huge impact towards progression Parkinson’s Research by fundraising $10,423.

Peter Byrne – Hot August Night Concert

Our ambassador Peter Byrne hosted an online concert for Parkinson’s.  It was a wonderful event that raised over $7500 for Shake It Up.

Mimi shaves her head for Parkinson’s

Mimi bravely fundraised for Shake It Up while preparing for DBS surgery. Mimi collected funds in the lead up to shaving her head for the treatment. With the help of her generous friends and family, Mimi raised $4,389 for Parkinson’s research.
